Hey mopals, just got my 833 rebuilt (new syncros ...) and a new shifter and still 3rd and 4th gear slip out on deceleration, 3rd worse than 4th. is there anything I should be looking for that could cause this problem?

Thanks, Rodger

I'd have a word with whoever rebuilt it......unless that's you. lol

shifter adjustment... lengthen the 3-4 rod and that should cure the problem -

Lengthening the rod will move one gear farther from neutral, but will move the other closer.

I'd like to take it back but summer here is almost over and I already was without the car for 3 weeks...lol

If I can make an adjustment to cure the problem it would be better for me and my driving addiction.

lengthening the 3-4 rod... it's going into gear all the way, it just seams too easy to slip it back out.

Sounds like 3-4 clutch sleeve needs lookin at...some new keys might be all it needs but it sounds like it's dead.IMHO

Sounds to me either one of two different things, One being the shifter rod is out of adjustment, easy fix, and the other one would take a few hours, you would have to take the transmission out and replace the synchronizer keys. This involves removing the tail housing and main shaft. But it is not to hard to do with good snap ring paliers. have fun and good luck....BTW try the easy fix first I had that issue and i just took an hour or so to adjust and tweak the shifter lever and got it shifting sweet and it doesnt slip out.
