Hello

Looking for best timing for stock 400 with today's fuels. I know the "Mopar" correct timing but wondering if with today's fuels one should compensate? Running premium fuel.

Thanks

Well here is my 2 cents on your question: It is going to be hard question to answer. If your car is bone and I mean DEAD bone stock, you can run with the OEM timing and should be just fine even running regular gas. The 400 was, when built, more of a smog motor and as such has the typical low compression/retarded timing a lot of vehicles of the time had. As a side: Ma Mopar started to retard the timing in the late 60's for emission purposes so there is plenty of what I call "Kentucky windage" to be had regarding the timing even on an OEM motor. Stock is fine but you could probably advance it from stock and get away with it provided your motor isn't all carboned up, you avoid detonation, etc, etc.
