Just was wondering how the two would compare in performance, using identical carbs, if possible, and as stock as possible. Advantages of either?

The obvious performance upgrade is C.I.D.'s. The heads are a very big part of it also. Then add on extra bore & stroke, and you can achieve some stout numbers. There is "No Replacement, for Displacement"...

max wedge heads win with same cam
but you can run a bigger cam in the mw
but that big cam in the stock head 440 and they do not flow enough air to take advantage of the cam
both too pbsolete with what we have available today

Hi John,..often wondered 'bout same combination, Max W heads, X-ram intake, headers & 440 block myself ! I missed out on a new 69 A12 package car by 1 lousy year (just too young) & that combo would've boosted Mopar's best ever late 60's street package to a serious level..a perfect fit to the lift-off hood for checkin your valve lash ......tom.

Sure 440 with Max w heads works, I've done it
but unless I wanted to make it sorta look stock the new heads completly outclass the MW heads

The only difference assuming same style piston and compression would be a .070" overbore. With both properly prepped I doubt there would be 10 hp difference.
