489 Case date code. HELP... lol

I have a 489 case. Not that I really care what the date code is but. I'm trying to sell it and the info may help to sell it.

Here is a picture of the casting date code. I think its 8V12 I found several topics on this but the V is throwing me off.

All I could find is those date markings are from the foundry and not really related to the car itself. Some say it related to the Julian calendar but the “V” wouldn’t make sense.
