I was lookin to got to tahoe for their hot august night car show...They want 50 bucks to park your car for the day...Man they should be paying me to bring my MoPar to the show...I figure I spend at least a couple hundred bucks on car show entry fees a month...Maybe I should just buy a duster or demon and go drag racing instead...

Hopefully for $50 bucks they feed you! These car show entry fees are getting out of control. The idea of keeping the riffraff out must be a joke because a lot of the shows charge little or nothing for spectator entry. When you take your car to these shows you almost have to stay there with them and babysit, otherwise you could have some surprises when you get back.

We quit going to car shows many moons ago and only go to spectate anymore. A buddy asked if I would like to put our car in the new car showroom and we declined that too....

Car shows are a great place to meet like minded folks. Then again, car shows also remind me of why I like spending more time with my dog.

No way I'd spend $50. I only pay for the big shows where they charge for parking and spectator entry (think NATS) that way my entry is paid for and I have an in show parking spot. Paying for other people to look at and judge my car is bull, I won't do it, just rather drive and stop in at cruise nights.

WOW! That is a lot. Think they only get $35 or so for the Spring Fling, and thats for two days. I would pass that one up from now on.

Although I have never been, I know it has been a big show for many years and I hear it is very crowded/busy. It may be worth that just to have a parking space near everything if you are just attending.

I stick to the free local shows lol I end up spending enough on gas to get to them... Won a few prizes at them too.

I agree. You have to guard your car, and even then they can get damaged. A big dog jumped on the driver's door of our '64 Corvette. Luckily I was able to buff out the scratches. An old guy in a motorized wheelchair ran into the front fender of our '64 Belvedere. Luckily I was able to touch up the scratches on that one. A young kid was test driving a motor bike at Mopars on the Mississippi 2 years ago. He'd never ridden one before and lost control and ran the bike into our front fender and driver's door. Almost $2,000 in damages, which we ended up covering with our own insurance. I hope that's the last of our car show "surprises".

Drag racing isn't any cheaper!$100.00-150.00 entry fees+travel expenses.Round money starts at 1/4 finals you're lucky to get the entry back!Any hobby is expensive now adays,Hell you can't even watch tv cheaply anymore.

Those are terrible stories! I get really nervous when people are wheeling their bikes around and just HAVE to go between two cars.

It's not as bad as Histoy's story, but the last show I was at something funny happened. My trunk was opened an inch because we were getting something out of there. This lady came up, helped herself to pulling the trunk open and the pounded on the lid really hard with her knuckles and said "wow it's so solid"

When we said 'please don't do that' she just looked kind of confused / offended and walked off. I love people.

Man, that's terrible. No wonder people put up ropes and chains and all manner of barriers. Doesn't sound like anything short of a brick wall would've prevented your "surprises", though. Well, maybe some courtesy and common sense on the part of the dog owner, et al.

You'd probably have more success with the wall. At least you'd have something to bang your head against...

Is that for one day or for the whole weekend?

Problem with Hot Aug Nights is that people want to go there. There is a waiting list a year long sometimes to get in. They can be selective and charge what they want. People will go just to say there car was at Hot August nights...

I agree with MoparStuart. When the money goes to charity it is ok to charge an entry fee. The club I used to belong to charged like $10 to enter. After all expenses were paid for trophys etc. the rest was donated. Even some of the trophys were donated along with door prizes and goody bags, which kept the cost to the club down and gave more to the charity. The only money that went to the club was a 50-50 drawing, the rest to the charity. But $50 is a lot to show your car and try to win a trophy.

I agree w/GTXKen. $50-$100 isn't too bad for a major show, multple days that include 2 or more w/the car. Those types of events draw mostly enthusiasts who will respect your car. The 1 day events locally have gotten to the point of charging $25 -$35 w/ multiple events every weekend.Too much for me, I'd rather blow it out the tailpipes and go for a ride! Can't win anything around here unless you got a bowtie anyway. It's cruise night or Mopar only shows for me.:tongueflap:

i havent gone to a car show in years. its a waste of time and money. i brought this hemi cuda which is oe gold to the lake george car show and it didnt even make top 10.someone said i had the wrong hood and hub caps on it.
