A little outside of the norm, but somewhat applicable. My 2001 Ram 1500 5.9L 46RE. I would like to delete the part throttle kickdown. A full throttle kickdown would be just fine. I know most people are installing a PTK but I would like go the other way. I would like to cruise and not kick down on longer grades at highway and interstate speeds. Would it be as easy as removing the kickdown parts from a 1966 model 727 and installing them in the 2001 valvebody? Any ideas gentlemen?

First off a 66 doesn’t have ptk. Secondly your truck will be loosing speed like crazy pulling a long grade and will kick the criuise off. I say leave it alone. Your tranny will be happier just the way it is. Kim

I know 66 doesn’t have ptk but it does have full throttle kickdown. I dont wish for the transmission to drop to 2nd until it reaches full throttle. Its bad enough it drops out of OD. Its very bothersome that it drops out OD. And sometimes it drops to 2nd. If I have 230Hp and 330ft lbs I expect to able to use them. I’ll decide what I wish to change or leave as is.
