Sounds like a bad ground to me. Break out your multimeter.

thanks for input.
so if my turn siganl works but not my brake light could still be a ground.
im not good at trouble shooting as you tell .
how would you test with the mulitimeter

Turning signal switch is very well the culprit. Dunno the quality of the piece you got. On rest position, the wire coming from pedal brake switch is linked to the rear tail light internally. Passenger side conection could be damaged and loosing the conection while turning switch in rest.

You can try a jumper wire at turning switch plug. On later models dark brown and dark green are the rear high intensity lights ( brakes, turnings, hazzards ). One is one side, the other is the other side... can't recall which color is which side. If you jump out the wire coming from brake pedal switch ( usualy white ) with each one of those wires, they will come on as soon you give brakes. If they do, will confirm switch is not working propperly.

Can't tell the colors mentioned are the same for 63, but with just checking the color arriving to the right side tail light you can confirm that and jump out that wire into the turning switch plug.

Anyway, if you say turnings are working propperly, the failure is still pretty much at turning switch which is missing the internal contacts for brake lights function
