I've searched multi threads and google and I'm just not able to locate exactly what I'm looking for. What would be the smallest manual steering box I could use for a 63? I'm trying to get improved header clearance and a quality setup. I'm able to locate tons of improvement options for power steering but not much in the way of a manual box......Thank you for any help

Time to call some companies and grille 'em. I have a stock manuel box in my '63 and it works for what I do.:blob1:

X2 with Hemi-Itis...
I have TTI headers and the 440 built as a Max Wedge

PS: Hemi-Itis is FULL BLOWN!
(Sadly...No cure)

I bought a used manual box off ebay and it was in great shape. You can see some of the box in the pic and see how much room I have with the 440 block and 2" TTI headers. Ron

We aren't getting crazy with anything, and we will be using TTI headers as well. Right now the car has Dougs headers that had to be pounded into submission to clear. As it appears I will probably just order a rebuild kit and leave it bone stock, Im not really finding a ton of options that are better for a manual set up

I have Dougs Headers on my 65 Coronet with a manual steering box & have tons of clearance with no mods to the header

Ron, You have lotsa room there, not so much here.

I've moved the steering box closer to the frame in past builds. Not to hard. A small notch in the mounting portion of the K-Frame and move the weld nuts. It'l gain you nearly 3/4" and doesn't bother the geometry.

Only 2 different manual boxes for cars. Small pitman shaft 1 1/8" and large pitman shaft 1 1/4". As long as your pitman arm is the correct spline you're good to go.

Have you considered a manual rack set=up? wouldn't have a clue what would fit just a idea if not already been thought about
