I have an opportunity to purchase a 66 Charger. I'm a bit concerned about the availability of parts for this car, as I don't know this model very well. So, my questions are;

1) Is the rear glass available?
2) Are the hood, front fenders, bumpers the same as a Coronet?
3) Did the Charger come with its own unique instrument cluster, or is it the same as a Coronet?

Thanks for your help. I know my way around Roadrunners but this car is new for me.

1) You would have to buy used glass, my dad has a couple of them
2) They bolt on but are different
3) cluster is very different

The hood is the same, I always thought the front fenders were the same as well.
Parts are hard to find and they are typically expensive, and unfortunately the cars don't seem to bring big dollars even when they are in very good shape. People that have them love them, others are looking for 68-70 chargers, road runners and GTX.

Parts are hard as hell to find just like 66 coronets when you do find them you better have deep pockets

A first gen charger is complicated and hard to find parts for. And parts are rare and costly. Headlights have motors and relays. Dash lights are electroluminescent and run on a transformer. And there is a LOT of trim.

Are you looking at a running driving car are you looking for something to restor and flip they dont hold the value very well if its just going to be for fun and having a project then have fun i love the 66 67 coronets and chargers i wouldn’t get rid of mine for nothing it is a scavenger hunt for parts it will be worth it in the end I personally would love to have a 66 charger i love the lines

Thats only 3 questions. The title reads 66-67 questions.

I wouldn't let the instrumentation be a deal breaker.
There is a member that repairs the gauges and lighting.
And there is nothing cooler than having a first gen Charger.
No one knows what it is.
Ok, maybe one thing cooler.:)

Hoods are fully interchangeable and no one will know the difference. (I have done it)
Fenders are the same, except you have to remove the welded in h/l buckets to use them with the charger grille. ( have done this too)
Glass, good luck.
Cluster? None of mine worked, so I made plexiglass inserts and put autometers in. A Rebuild will run $1k, but theres 2 or 3 places that will do it.

I've been building/driving/racing mine for 20 years now. People love it.

I also just bought one, I am slowly finding the parts I need, They are expensive, But I think the 66 charger is one of the best looking B-bodys out there. So many cool features in the interior, And great stance. Buy it you will like it!!

I just finished my 67 Aug 2017. You can’t be in it to flip- but they are so cool. Parts are tricky, complicated construction, and a zillion parts, but they are rare.

If you can get a mostly complete car you can work from there. Don’t get into a shell where you have to find everything. Or if you do, you’ll need/want a complete parts car. Motor and tranny aren’t super critical if you’re building a driver, but depends on what you’re doing: driver? Stock restoration? Racing? Restomod?

Avoid after market parts where possible. It also comes down to how handy you are. I had access to a Mopar mechanic (my brother) and a Mopar fanatic (my dad), with a lot of parts cars. There is a small but dedicated support network, including FBBO. I learned lots here.

There is rear glass available now:
https://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/threads/1966-67-dodge-charger-tinted-rear-glass.152343/

And it’s tinted- buy it quick! Front glass is fairly cheap and easy to get, rear is not.

But... four bucket seats... electroluminescent dash... trim everywhere- there’s not much like it!
