On my 67 Coronet I noticed that the weatherstripping on the passenger side door was all chewed up (even though it looked relatively new. I ordered a replacement set and slapped it on. Fit was great. Went ahead and shut the door, went in for the night, came back out this morning and it chewed up a bit. Looks like the weatherstripping is rubbing up against the striker receiver and getting in a bind.

The alignment on the body panels is very good. Can the spacer behind the striker receiver be removed without messing things up? Is there another adjustment that I am missing that I need to look at? Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem on my 67. Even after I cleaned and polished out the strike face. I pulled the stripping back and glued it with 3M super black and it helped but still rubs. I used Metro super soft weatherstripping. Looks and fits great accept for the rubbing on the strike. Update: The rubbing is gone. You need to throw a bead of super black on the inside edge of the strip and pull it toward the door panel a bit when you stick it back down. Works great now!
