So I noticed the column shifter is getting sloppier, lots of play.

Steering is fantastic (just got new Firm Feel box).

Can I rebuild the shifting mechanism? Where can I get the parts...bushing...detent....

Can I do this with the column in the car since it is just the shifter?

The collar that the shifter handle is attached to has a key way and there's a key spot welded to the shift tube. If you remove the shifter from the collar you will find a spring that returns the shifter to the forward position. Next behind the shifter in the collar there's an Allen set screw that holds the collar tight to the shift tube. This set screw could be loose contributing to the slop. If you have play in the shifter where the it's attached to the collar you can go up one size on the roll pin and drill the collar and shifter to the correct size of the new roll pin.
