I am currently rebuilding my 67 Belvedere Column shift auto column and would be interested in any suggestions as far as paint for the steering shaft, primarily concerning the area between end of shift tube and steering coupler. Any recommendations for paint in terms of durability and closeness to original finish? The exposed end of my steering shaft and coupler on my unrestored car was painted black but my parts column appeared to have never been painted. I am looking to replicate a bare steel look and to have some degree of rust prevention and durability. What have you guys used?
