Hi guys,

I've got a mirror off a 1968 Charger that I'd love to put on my car, but the remote adjustment doesn't work. The wires are stretched or something. Anyway, I'm looking for a way to fix it up and make the adjustment work again. If you have any ideas or thread links to a good resto, let me know. Also, I'm looking for the knob too. Thanks guys.

Heres some pics:

Are you sure that mirror is for a 68-69 Charger? The cables look too long for a Charger or maybe it is because they are loose. There are a few different lengths of cables for different years and models. Usually you need to install and route the cables to be sure if it is going to function correctly. Is that control designed for a push in knob or a threaded in knob? I may have one depending on which type it is.

I pulled it off of a '68 Charger, but I couldn't tell ya if it came on it or not. I was thinking the same thing about the cable length! My mirror is super close to where the remote mount is.

I don't see any threads in the socket, but they could have been stripped out. I'm pretty sure it pushed in, but I could be wrong.

Does anyone have a pic of a remote mirror out of a 68 69 or 70 b body that I could use to compare mine to?

Thank you for the link. Yes sir it does help. Seems any B-body mirror I've found has a shorter cable, whether its a repop or original. Confused why this '68 car I got mine out of is so different. And I really cant remember that far back when I took it off how it was set up. Again thank you for the comparison! I still am in search for a knob for mine. 99% sure its the NON thread in version.

My cable does seem shorter than your cable.

Pretty sure I found out what happened. While I was searching through some boxes, I found another remote mirror! The cables were cut (I was young and stupid when I acquired it) so this must have been the mirror to the charger. I don't have the rest of the cables so I couldn't compare. I really can't remember where I got the intact mirror so it MUST have been laying in the parts car or something. So that solves the mystery. Any idea what car my extra long remote wires would go to?

Here's a pic of the mirror installed. I just zip tied the cables out of the way of the window for now. It's much better than the garbage mirror I had before.

That mirror with the long cable is probably from an A-Body with-out a vent window or a C-Body

MoparParts I bet you're right. I wish I could remember where I got it. I must have gotten it out of the car that I pulled the other one and gauge cluster off of. Thanks for the help guys. If you have any ideas where to find the knob, let me know. I've checked ebay and repro spots but I have to get the whole mirror to get the knob.
