I've been reading grill repair and repaint threads for days now. For the silver paint, I have not seen anyone mention the use of plastic model paint. I built a lot of models over the years, and thought this might be a good way to match the color and sheen on the argent sections of the grill. I have airbrushes and other tools that should make laying the silver on pretty easy. Anyone try this before?

No, but I have used Testors model paint & a tiny brush on my dash. I think it would work "ok" as long as the model paint was "UV-stable" (maybe urethane or acrylic). You get a lot of sunlight on much of the grill. It might not handle chips all that well, but what paint does? Why not? It's certainly as good as any "rattle can" paint.

I outlined a grill with a silver enamel paint pen that worked great. the tips are kind of hard so you have to fluff em out a bit.
