Just happened to be staring at the car the right way this afternoon, and had an "oh $hit" moment. My passenger fender is from the car originally, driver fender I bought at a show a few years ago. The side lights are round and identical location, the headlight buckets are offset on both fenders. The fenders are virtually identical except the location of the turn signal light!

What the actual hell? Maybe someone added them after the fact on the driver fender in what looks like the 69 location?

Thanks for doing that!

I did similar but was really looking for images that matched my original fender since I was sure someone had put the driver side holes in later. So what you've found seems to say they can be in either position?

Unfortunately, I haven't got a clue. I mean, it appears so, but who knows what's original and what's added on the cars in these pics. Finding some factory sales literature with images, or better yet, some blueprint, might guide...but without that, I think you have to pick one to match and weld the other up?

If someone on here has a Mitchell for that car (I don't), it might have relevant info. '68 body manual, the same.

I went through the FSM this AM, and couldn't find an illustration with them. I did find this sales brochure on ebay that shows them in the forward position. And agreed, regardless I have to weld 'em up and move them forward. Although they might be easier to see further back. I'll have to toss a coin on that one.

Thanks for your help!

Yeah - parts manual is no particular help either: Only one part number listed and illustration doesn't show the turn signal. Good luck.

I looked at my Mitchell for my '69 Satellite and in that case, it wasn't helpful at all - one part number and reference to labor time to "drill for signal". Occurred to me to look at the pages in the parts manual with the signals - even these looks like two are forward, but one "appears" rearward? You'll have to judge for yourself...sorry.

FWIW these fenders were still in original paint when I got them....

I can go to “the jail” this coming week & check. I think forward is correct. Mine mounted pretty close to the rock shields behind headlight buckets.

Here’s a comparison on our 68 Coronet, the drivers fender is the original, the passenger is a replacement. The car is a lynch road built car, and the replacement fender was off a St Louis car, so my theory is that different plants had different locations for the holes, just a theory though. And I don’t care that they are different, it give the car character

Probably easier to see the passenger side one!

I went & measured mine, but then couldn’t find the OP. If I remember, about 3-1/2” from front curve on fender. Actually the only option on my car when I bought it. Lynch Rd. also.

I always thought they needed to be in the forward position so that they would be somewhat protected by the small splash shield up inside the front fender nose.

My thoughts also, sadly it didn’t work very good on passenger side. Got lucky with a small LED from Radio Shack(before they went bankrupt)

When I put the fender turn signals on my old 68 Coronet 500 'vert I had a bunch of original lenses, bulbs etc but none worked and/or broke when trying to get them apart. I finally ended up using the mid 70's mopar wedge turn signal lenses/bulb and wiring and just filed them down to fit the 68 chrome housing, then made an extended bracket to fit up under the fender to hold the lens and body in place...worked well!
