im looking inot buying a 68 coronet 500. my questions is does anyone know if a 69 grill will bolt right into a 68? I think the 69 grill is more agressive looking. Any helkp would be great. I might even turn it inot a 69 cause the taillight panel is rotted out in a few difficult to patch spots.

The 68' Coronet grill is taller than the 69'. 69' hoods are not as tall mainly because the hoods in 69' ran the same hood as the 68' except there is a screw on lip in the front that dips down about an inch across 2/3 of the width of the hood. A 69 grill would fit on a 68, but you would have one heck of a gap if you don't have that on extended lip installed.

The 68 headlight buckets are different than the 69 buckets. The lowi beams on the 68 set a little deeper than the hi beams, on the 69 they are equal. The 68 grill is protrudes out in the center, where the 69 is more of a flat grill. Your 68 headlights will not set even in 69 grille buckets, unless you use 69 headlight buckets too. Good luck!

I have a 69 Coronet that has a 68 front clip. I also have a 69 grill and it will not fit as the headlights are in different positions, I can't recall but I think the 69 headlights are set slightly closer to the centre-line (closer together) than 68 grills. However, you could do it I reckon if you were prepared to customise your headlight cups, you would have to cut them out and set them slightly inwards, re-weld, tidy up and the 69 grill would go in. The lip under the front of the hood could be handmade easily as I'm sure the one under the grill could be also.

It would be a bit of a project but it could be done.
