hello everyone. Anybody know if a 69 coronet tail panel would fit on a 68 coronet? I see that the tail lights are different and also the key for the trunk lock is different. Just wandering if the overall measurements and shapes are the same. Thanks

It would maybe fit but they are different shaped.

I have a 68. The lower part of the tail panel is rusted out. I see that they offer a replacement tail panel for a 69. I thought about getting one and using the lower part to repair the rusty area. That's why I was wandering. Thanks

I have both, a '68 and '69 Coronet. They are definitely shaped differently in the back panel. That includes the bottom piece you're talking about. That section on a '69 is more rounded than the '68, plus the ends are different too.
Depending on exactly where the rust is, and if you wanted to get creative you could probably work something out but not sure it would look right.

Thats awesome that you have both models to compare. The rust on mine is at the very bottom behind the bumper. I thought there may have been a chance that they didn't change it behind the bumper from 68 to 69. I may have to try and make something. Thanks for the help

If the rust is behind the bumper and more to the center your plan might work out. Since the bumpers are in place on mine, I really can't say. I'm going on what I could see, and feel just behind the top of the rear bumper. Sorry I can't be more definite. I can take a closer look tomorrow. Depending on the extent of your rust you may have to fashion a patch panel.

Hope this helps....excuse the dust...

I appreciate that very much. Thanks

I believe you may be able to use the lower portion after all. At least a fair amount of what you need anyways
