68 or 69 engine Roadrunner

They stopped production of 1968 cars in July of that year and 1969 cars were starting to be produced some time in August. With that late 1968 cast date, it's from a 69. Guaranteed.

Am I safe to assume that the LL is for "low compression"?

Whats the ID pad read for year code and assembly date? Im sure Mr. Pecker is correct with a 11/68 casting date tho.....

My apologies, what do you mean by ID Pad? I'm new to all of this.

On a 383, that would be the machined area parallel to the cylinder head machining on the right (passenger's side) of the block.

Thanks for the picture Richard, and for the education on where the ID Pad is at.

It's what I do. Stick around long enough and you'll find that I'm more than a pretty face.

No. Compression is a function of the pistons; not the block.
An 11/68 block would probably be for a 69 model year car but you need to check:

1) the pad as described above.
2) Look on the passenger's side toward the front part of the block for a pad. On that Pad you may find a vin number. You could find all 13 characters of the VIN which will tell you exactly what the engine came from or you may only find 8 characters. The 8 characters will tell you the plant and VIN sequence number. From that, you may be able to tell what it came out of.

I appreciate the feedback. I will look into the pad and see if I can find out anything.
