Will N-50 15 tires fit on a stock 1968 Road Runner without any mods? If so what wheel width and back spacing does it take?

You might get more responses if you posted your question in the Brakes, Suspension, Rims and Tires or General Discussion forum.

I believe the consensus here is that 295/50/15's on 10" wheels with a 5 1/2" offset is as big as you can go Clint. They'll fit in the stock well without rubbing, but it's tight.

welcome to FBBO

WOW! That size takes me back. Back in the day when we thought the L-60-15 was the big boy on the block. Then came... "BIG BROTHER N" Welcome to the site Clint!

I'd say...no. I did have N-50-15 (Formula One Super Stock) tires on my '70 for awhile in the 80's, and that was with air shocks pushing the back up a bit. They scraped if the shocks were let down, putting scratches in the raised white lettering. And the inside was really close, actually polished the paint on the frame rails. I had 15 X 10 Appliance mags for those.

Just for kicks, I tried putting those same tires back on my car last summer. With the new quarters having a slightly wider wheel well flange and no air shocks, there was no way they'd fit.

Here's an old picture of the rust bucket thirty years ago :)

Hi, I'm a newbie here but still want to say welcome! Photon440's old pic showing the tires is awesome! Those bring back good memories! Not sure if it will help but I looked and looked for the largest tire that would fit mine, ended up with MT DOT 295/65/15 DOT slicks mounted on 15X8's with 4.5" backspace. They end up at about 30" tall and 11" tread width. Need to run superstock springs though.
