I got a 69 340 4 barrel intake manifold on my 318 mild build from previous owner. what I am wondering is this a good intake to just keep on the 318? the casting number is 2531915-2 its the one with 4 holes for square bore carb (holley 750 vac sec on it now from previos ower). the 318 has 273 closed chamber heads ported to 340/360 size all the way through runners, the holley carb, lunati 60402 cam, summit 1 5/8 headers. so wanted to see if anyone knew anything about the performance of this intake manifold.

Other than being Iron Heavy,,It's as good as any dual plane intake on the market in my book.If you drive your car on the street I would keep it.

Boat anchor, spend the money and get a decent aluminum one.

If you're going to go with stock stuff, the 71 and TQ is pretty good. Ran a 13.98 with a 71 Cuda @ 3560 lbs.

well I got the 340 intake and an 340 torker single plane, but I figured the single might drop the velocity to much what do u guys think don't want to spend to much I got the 318 in my charger now but I just got a 360 block for my 408 stroker build but it will take awhile for that to be finished, so wanted the 318 to be a little peppy for cruising and messing with Honda guys :]

Reliability is everything. That original is about as good as it gets. They didn't call the 340 the baby Hemi for shits and giggles!

Anybody disrespecting the OE intake clearly knows nothing and should be avoided on all matters of advice unless your looking to throw away money and possibly build a turd.

Know your parts!

I thought I heard something about the 68-69 340 intake being pretty good but wanted to see what others had to say so ill just clean her up get some paint on it and put in back on. Thank you Guy for your response. Does anyone know what rpms this intake works best at? Just wanting to know to compare with the cam basic rpm range? Thanks guys

kept the factory intake on my '69 Formula S 340. Loved it. as mentioned, they are heavy.

For sure as designed with the stock cam but can tolerate a little more overlap - like maybe a hemi grind cam. This is a divided plenum dual plane intake and that really helps with the vacuum signal to the carb, but with a hotter cam it might be beneficial to cut a notch across the two sides. Still I think plenty of stock eliminator folks run them unmodified so do some research before modifying anything.

It's good it's good all the way. It's best range is from idle up to aound 4,000rpm. Some may argue higher...and I wouldn't dispute them.

Are you for real? Have you ever used one? heavy, yes. Decent design , yes. For the build in question is it a good choice , yes. Cheap, yes. What's not to like?
