Hi guys,
I'm not sure I have all my jargon right or even if this is a dumb question, but if someone could help me, I'd appreciate it!
I have a flat (standard) coronet 500 hood in good condition, can it be converted to a Ramcharger hood, or would I be better off buying a nice Ramcharger hood?

Yes --one can cut and weld as needed to make a "ramcharger" hood out of your standard hood.
Next would be to aquire the hood scoops and the large underhood attachment to fit the air cleaner. And since this system is actuated those parts may also be needed to make it the whole deal.

Finding a nice complete "ramcharger" hood with all the stuff seems like the best place to start. This is where you will find the many pieces you will need. If what you find has ugly issues with the metal you have your original flat hood to work with.

the original scoops were bolted to the hood. don't know if there are any re-pops out there. shouldn't be a big deal with the correct location of the scoops and parts. if this is a performance adder don't put too much faith in them as a power adder. my '69 r/t has all the "ramcharger" crap under the hood and i think it's far more a nuisance than a positive contributor.

I agree--this is not a power adder. It is an image adder.---BTW that is not ment to be a dig.
Afterall --if we take away every "image" part of our cars we are left with go carts.--All go and no show.:)

That's good to know, I'm not building a show car, but I do like the look of the scoops on the hood (especially when they say "Hemi") Thank you

BTW--The "power bulge" hood for the 68 and 69 cars. is a nice look (IMO) for that large flat hood.
I just happen to have one in good contition and it is on my list of things to sell.

Your set up is exactly what I'm looking for. I have seen aftermarket scoops, but someone told me they warp after time. I would consider the bulge hood only if there is a practical reason for it, like clearance issues. But I am wanting mine to look as close to a "real" RT as possible.

In my case you will see a formed rubber indentation/cutout in the underhood assembly that was made to clear the master brake cylinder (when the hood is down) on -hemi only- cars.---The booster assy. needed to be moved up and to the drivers side cause the hemi is a fat engine.:)

If all you want is the hood scoops for the look I would say go for it and save a bunch of money.--Like has been said--this is not a go fast deal-- it's a look -or it is original detail which has it's appeal to many.
