Im in the process of restoring a 1969 Coronet R/T and the fenders are pretty hosed. I know I can get repopped fenders but they do not include the headlight buckets. I'm also having a rough time trying to find decent used fenders. If it comes down to having to use the new stuff, how does one remove the headlight buckets from the fenders without destroying the buckets?

welcome to the forum. to remove the headlight buckets you remove the springs then backout the adjuster screws and remove the bucket the adjusters will come out
by squeezing the release tabs but they are usually brittle but available new. if your talking the parts that the buckets mount in they are spot welded and you can drill the spot welds to remove.

yeah, I meant the parts that are spot welded in. i guess its time to sand down the rust and find the spot welds so they can be drilled.

Who is repopping these?

I was mistaken, a combination of bad info and misinterpretation led me to believe someone is reproducing these fenders. Unfortunately no one reproduces the complete fenders for the 1969 Coronet.

I meant I need to remove the headlight bucket bracketry from my fenders to try to repair the damage. These fenders are REALLY hard to come by in decent shape.

You have a pic of the bad spots on the fender?

Here are pictures of both sides damaged at the headlight bezel, the outside surface rust I've been trying to remove, and the deep pitted rust inside the fenders.

If that's the only issues with the fenders they look pretty solid. Have them media blasted and repair them they are repairable for sure.

It looks like in the pics if you blast the top of that one fender you will have holes.I would hold out for a better one.How is the area by the hood hinges?

Well, over the weekend I scored a set of really nice fenders for the car. I'll likely try to fix the originals and keep them on hand just in case.

And the area by the hood hinges is rust free on both of the original fenders.
