69 Headlight bezels,,,

Is there any difference between the 69 sport sat/GTX headlight bezel and the 69 RR bezels??????? I've seen postings that they are interchangeable, help clear this up please,,,

all are interchangable, but the finish is different. Some have the argent finish like road runners, Belvederes don't. One difference the GTX bezels have an end section missing because the GTX grill is different. Not noticable on the road runner unless you look for it.

The factory argent finish is also slightly darker on a 69 RR. Thirty years ago, when you could actually buy nice originals at swap meets, I always looked for the lighter silver finish when I was hunting through a pile of them, trying to get a better set for my unrestored '69 GTX. You can see the difference in the illustrations in an original '69 sales brochure.

The difference in the bezel between the GTX and RR is very noticeable to those of us that know. It's one of the things that I will look at from now forward, now that I have gone through it. OER only makes the GTX bezel. I just found an acceptable used one for my '69 RR. The pass side had a GTX bezel without the shield. Yes, the grilles are different. Without the shield, you can look in at the back of the headlight.
