Hello!
Great site...
I have a 69 plymouth satellite wagon im trying to get back on the road and the star wheel latch stopped locking in postion. is the whole latch bad or did something just come appart in the door? any help would be appreciated.
Now the door closes but doesnt latch shut...

Is it just tripped in the closed position with the door opened? If so just stick a large blade screwdriver in it and flip it up.

no it doesnt lock at all... the door will close all the way but will just fall open. the star wheel just spins and spins. the other door it kinda clicks over as it rolls.

i think i figured it out... the mechanism was so rusted/gummed up it was stick in the open door position.... after i wd40'd the hell out of it and worked the mechanism it started working again!
That door is hard to shut though... the other three doors click click and they stay shut. this one you push shut and its like its hitting or something, and it doesnt stay latched all the way. you have to really slam it to get it to lock in place. is there an adjustment or are the door hinges just worn out?

If you have to lift on the door to close it the upper hinge is worn out. You can get a kit to repair it (pin and bushings) or just replace it with a passenger's side upper hinge. They are the same piece, and (usually) had much less wear.

Thanks for the info... yeah it feels like the door needs to be lifted up to close correctly... where do i get the kit your talking about?

Is the kit hard to install?
Can it be done with the door still in place or does it have to be removed?
I see Kragen has the kit too... ill prolly pick one up this week.
Thanks for the info!

You don't have to pull the door, just the upper hinge. All that has to be done is knock out the original pin, drill the holes out, install the bushings, then install the pin. The hard part is drilling the hole straight
