I've got a question regarding the hood stripes on a '69 Roadrunner. I've got the dimensions and everything but when you spray the stripes do you tape under the hood or do the stripes roll into the engine bay and on the cowl side down the cowl? Or do you just allow the paint to naturally get in between the gaps of the fenders and cowl. Pictures would be appreciated.

Nobody has a '69 Roadrunner with the hood stripes? I'm thinking I'll just have the paint guy mask off the engine bay and carry the stripes down the edge of the cowl a half inch or so and do the same on the inner sides of the fenders. That way there is no possibility of seeing body paint in the seams.

Sweet, thanks for the info. Do you think a half inch down the sides should be enough?

yes a half inch should be fine.I have a 69 RR w/hood stripes but i never taped off the engine bay.but if you want to do yours that way, that's fine.it would probably give it a cleaner look.

lol sorry just seeing this post, mine were inside just on the inner fender top I have seen this both ways but I think it is correct to have it inside on the top there is a book showing it some were will have to dig it up and look.

Thank bigman. So far out of all the pics I've been able to find it looks like either people will tape it off about 1/4" - 1/2" down the inside of fender or I've even seen some that have the black all the way down past the top of the side hood rubber bumpers. As far as how far down they go into the cowl, no photos I've seen have shown that but I'm guessing they would match the line of the fenders.

didnt run mine in very far 1/2 inch at the most

My RR has the factory hood stripes and they went down into the fender gap. If you think about it from a manufacturing point of view why would they tape anything that didn't need taping? When I did mine I didn't tape it and the over spray just stopped at that little part on the fender top by the bolts.

Yeah that makes sense Meep and its what I figured the factory did. I just wanted to make sure I've got it right before I tell the paint guy to do his thing.
