Hello, i was wondering what is used to change the color of the soft dash parts in a 69 roadrunner. I am referring to the glove box door, dash pad and switch/ignition surround. These are all kinda soft rubbery type material that i want to change from green to black since i am changing the color of the interior. Do you paint these or what? Any help or advice would be great.

I have heard a lot of good things said about the new interior paint offered my Herb's Parts. You might check with them. I have also used DuPont Vinyl die and SEM die with good results. You have to make sure it is clean before you start to die it.

Even if you had the dash pad recovered by Just Dashes, they'd still dye it to your colour. That SEM covering is super durable, it won't scratch off.

Ah, very good info. Sounds like the SEM products are the way to go. Thanks everyone!

I washed the seats with soap and water and let them dry. Before painting wiped them down with wax and grease remover and sprayed them with a rattle can. I didn't use any adhesion promoter.
On the carpet I just vacuumed it good, taped off the interior and sprayed.

Use adhesion promoter if you don't want to do it over sooner. I used Landau Black like most guys here. Looks just right and matches the new door panels.

Good luck.

I have used the SEM line of vinyl 3 stage painting system. Cleaner, prep & paint.......has worked very well on my 72 442 and 78 Chevy van dashes.....don't be in a hurry, take your time, read the instructions and follow them to a "T" and do it in a draft free room and clean the room as much as you can before to keep the dust down........I did both dashes in black and they both came out really nice.....good luck
