69 Super Bee Air Cleaner Help

Well, guys just about got the body ready for fine tuning, paint and primer. But I have one dilema that I have yet to address. Maybe one of you can aid in this. I have an actual lift off hood aircleaner for a 69.5 Super Bee, but an owner of questionable intellegence had decide to cut the outer rim off and smash the top down to fit under whatever they had placed it on.
So...because I can't bring myself to crack-off 1500 to 2500 dollars for a repop metal base by goodmark, or pay the unbelievable cost for a used one, I guess I will have to find a way to restore the one I have. I'm up for the challenge but lack any information regarding sizes and appearances of said aircleaner base.
If any one of you who has an original aircleaner for a lift off hood I would appreciate any and all help. Pictures/Dimensions/ how the seal fits to it etc. I will attach a picture of what I have to work with and hopefully one of my fellow enthusiasts can help.

That's an crying shame. Unfortunately, the cost to repair it might very well be more than buying another one.

Repop one from PG Classics maybe.You could be all set for under $500 but they arent the lift off hood type.

It is isn't it, but it is what I have to work with. I have access to everything I need to repair it myself, the problem is I have not model, or shop drawings to go by, as well as a more recent photo versus the ones in books, and restoration guides.

I can find the repops, as well as original airgrabber style cleaners but they would not fill or seal the hood just like the one I have. Worst Case senario and I do mean worst case I may buy a fiberglass one 150.00 Avg. price. But I would still have this aircleaner I would want to repair. Thanks though for the info, I appreciate it.

Two possibilities for you. Buy an inexpensive fiberglass one (90% of the people will never know with the lid on) or go to a12forum.com and ask there as there was someone there that had this same problem and was able to fabricate the missing perimeter.

just an idea, but what if u bought the fiberglass one used it as a pattern and on the car untill u fixed the original then sold the fiberglass one after u were satisfied with the repair on the original???

i think you would have to have your hands on a real one
to have any chance of being close to replicating something usefull..
a pic would be just a waste of your time..lol

I will give them a try, I appreciate the feed back. A trace of the footprint/base would be real helpful, then a front view. I will give it a try.

Its been like this through the whole restoration of this old girl. But I have that old "I can save it" attitude, and I don't accept defeat all that well,LOL.

Do you still have the rubber seal on the hood, to give you a good idea of the outer lip size? I'm sure that would be a good help.
