70 GTX Convertible, they are rare :upside down:

Correct none were built of either car. However, growing up in Detroit (many years ago in a distant galaxy in another life) Several of us in our neighborhood remember a yellow Superbird convertible with white guts often driving around. At the time I was driving a Schwinn 10 speed just replacing my stingray. My father also remembers it. It could have been a styling idea from the styling studio, or a dealer built it. We had all kinds of unusual stuff on the streets of Detroit. Knowing all numbers or almost all vins of superbirds there are no converts listed. This would have been 1971 or 1972. We had many freaks on the streets. Street racing was big.

i have a picture at work of a 70 or 71 race at a dirt track with a yellow road runner pace car convertible with a superbird wing will try and post it tomorrow if i can remember

NO Charger Ragtops or Special hoods ????

In 1969 my future Brother in law came back from Viet Nam with a
69 Charger R/T Red, Black Vinyl Top, Black Interior.... I thought it was one of the best cars I ever saw and had a great interior but, one thing I never understood beside the fact Chargers were never a Ragtop the HOOD.. Every single muscle car had some type of Bulge hood or Inserts or special hood design...Every other B-Body did..His had the turn signals in the hood so they were recessed up front but the hood was flat ..How is it a base Charger hoods were the same as R/T or a Hemi ?? I have read a few Mopar books but never read any thing on the reason why Charges were the only ones with a plain type hood. And no Ragtops for that matter either??.:eusa_think:.Rick
