'71 383 call outs

I have a '71 Road Runner with a 383. I have a question about the engine call out on the hood inserts. The numbers are white reflective, but what about the black background? My car had (not original decals) gloss black background and reflective white numbers. What is correct? I ordered a set from Performance Car Graphics and they sent reflective black background and reflective white numbers. To me, it looks like at night when the light hits it, all you will see is white.

I have the same kind of car. Mine is a Tor-red car with a 383. My call outs are just the numbers with no back ground, only the body color. My callouts are not reflective. I think it depends on the color of the car and from which plant it came from but not sure.

rrTor-Red Thanks for the reply. I see that you have the GTX stripes on your car by the pic in your avitar. Would this be different for a RR? The V21 stripes on the '71 RR is multiple 1/4" stripes in the recessed area of the hood inserts.

The picture in my avatar isnt my actual car only a close picture I could find. My car doesnt have the stripes coming down on the fenders. It has the stripes coming down behind the rear 1/4 window and as far as the hood; there's only the stripes around where the callout is. My car has a 3/4 vinyl roof as well but the same color.

I got the replacement call outs today. They are just like what the car had on it, and exactly what I wanted. The 383 numbers are white reflective and the back ground is gloss, but not reflective black. They look great at night as all that lights up now are the numbers. Kudos to Dave at Performance Car Graphics. His customer service is second to none. He is truly an asset to our hobby.
