This is what is stamped on my block that I can see, of my 71 gtx.. I cant find a place for the vin on the block but the motor is still in the car. Thanks for the help guys

the vin stamping is near the oil pan rail on the side of the block
you have to go underneath and crawl around to find it.

G440=1971 440
11 10 HP2=November 10th, 1970 assembly date for engine. HP=HiPo or Magnum engine. 2=2nd shift assembly.


Sounds like you have a numbers matching engine, but you'll have to check that VIN to be 100% sure.

Awesome. Found the numbers on the block they match the vin all the way up to the u on my vin. When I bought the car the guy didnt know where to find the numbers so I jist figured it was period correct block. Now just have to pray its not cracked lol. Thanks guys.
