Hello all, does anyone have any acorn pal nuts used to mount the side marked lights on a 1971 Road Runner or know of a source for them? I can't find them on the internet. I took a chance on the '70-'71 Cuda nuts but they are smaller.

This is for the '71 RR:

Thanks in advance!

I’m in the same need as you but not sure what size I need to get ???

https://www.classicindustries.com/product/6027352.html

6028185 - 8-32 Hex Flanged Acorn Thread Cutting Capped Palnut w/ Mastic Sealer

They are not listed by Yr or model but I’m assuming the 1/8” ones are the Cuba ones you got.

I bought both from Classic Industries, neither work - They’re too small. I’ve also tried several from EBay and other sources - no luck. Now I have about 50 of them, all various sizes, that I have no use for.

Maybe, McMasters also ?

It would be helpful if you were to use ordinary nuts to determine what thread you are working with..
Unfortunately, the posts they mount on aren’t threaded. The PAL nuts cut the threads and, from what I have read, they aren’t comparable to a standard thread size.

My understanding is that the pot metal self tapping acorn is not reproduced.
E body people have offered good money for a set of 8.
I compared my barracuda acorn with a 71 4dr bezel. They interchange, but the b has serrations on the flange, E is smooth and has a larger washer.
The ones pictured for sale are smaller and for threaded side marker lens attaching.
If you need better clarity, just ask.
@ct71rr I take it the ones you got from your last thread didn't work.

From what I’ve learned (the hard way), the correct nuts have to slits in them (red arrows) and the incorrect ones only have one. When I tried both on my bezels, the nuts with the two slits actually cut the threads, the single slit ones didn’t.

This is a better image from Mr. G’s. Red circle: two slits/ Green circle: one slit
