Let me start by saying I've gone through what old manuals I could find (MoParts.com mostly), searched this site, and even annoyed people at car shows... all to no avail. So, I'm reaching out to you master blasters for some help.

Car = 1972 Charger, base model.

I have the grill setup much like what I've pictured below (not my actual car). No hidden headlight version, just old school grill. I saved the car from a junk yard from Alabama and found some brackets in the trunk... six different ones, and the guy I got the car from said they were for the grill. Seemed to make since to me.

However, only the outside, curved brackets fit (#1) correctly and are now bolted in and align perfectly to the plastic internal grill insert.

Bracket #3 also seems to fit the bottom of the actual metal part of the grill trim, but not the top. But I think once I figure this out... she'll line up... but no way to attach the top of the bracket.

And for bracket #2... I can see where it goes, but it's too far back and doesn't align with the bolt holes in the bottom or top.

I feel like I'm missing a bracket that runs across the top of the outer/metal grill, just on the inside. Like an intermediary bracket that attaches to the upper metal grill and then the mounts #2 and #3 attach to it... is that right?

Anyway, I know this picture I've marked up is from a 1971 body manual and for a Charger 500... so... but I have no pictures or other manuals that I can find.

Can someone point me in the right direction with a picture or something from a manual to get me going in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

I have a 72 body manual but it's going to be a while before I can post any material from it.

Do you have the upper bracket like in the pic below? Sounds like that's what your missing. The center grille brackets mount to this and not the bumper.

I do not! I thought that was only for 72's with motorized light covers... but now that I can actually see it... I think that would solve the distance problem for the middle and inner mounts.

Both style grilles use one. They are sightly different between the two so if you start a WTB thread specify that your using standard grilles.
