i put in a new starter on my 72 charger, which required me to unmount one side of the block and raise it up to drop out the header, now i got both the header and new starter back with the engine back mounted. i started putting the header bolts back in but i can only get the first bolt back in. one of the header pipes are catching on the back of the starter. i only need to move the header up like half an inch to get the bolts in. i was suggested to kink in part of the header pipe to make it go around the starter alittle better. i dont really want to unhook the block again and undo the starter and pull both out to just hit the header with a hammer. any suggestions to how to get this header to bolt up??

Your going to have to take the starter back where you got it and get the right one. The Hime and 440-6 cars had a longer starter than the other big and small block cars. Best thing to do is get you a mini starter for an 89 5.9 truck. It will fit every V8 engine mopar ever made back before then.
