This is new to me, I can not seem to get my dipstick tube in. Stopping just as the o- ring is barely in sight. I don't think that it is in all the way.
Background, '69 Hemi Road Runner. I switched from a 4-speed to automatic. Coan Street/strip reverse valve body 727. The trans and engine are in. I found a dipstick tube and dipstick for a BB. Will have to alter the bracket because of the Barton valve covers. It's tight down there, am I just not trying hard enough?

That's what she said! :poke:

Try a bit of lube on the O-ring. Is the bracket that bolts to the bell housing catching on the bolt?

I did oil the o-ring. The bracket has to be altered because of the Barton valve covers, so I can not judge by the bracket being in correct bolt hole location at the bellhousing .

I may have it in all the way, just seems like the fit should be better. Hate to have the oil about in and see it start leaking.
Thank you!

It needs to go in another 3/4 to an inch. Can u put a bolt in the end and tap it in with a hammer while wiggling it around. U may also have too thick of an O ring. Kim

I have to pull it back out to alter the bracket, will see how far it is then. O-ring seems to be correct, same as the old one except that it's new. Will make sure that the tube is not out of round.
Thank you.
