73-74 Stripe Positioning

I could do that when i get some time, some of the photos came out a bit blurry, but i wrote down all the measurements. I only did the drivers side, but should be virtually the same on both sides.

Sounds like a great idea for present and future members! Maybe Joey will make it a sticky... cool idea..

My petty blue 73 is back from 9 long months and a ton of dough out of pocket the end of next week!!! I'm stoked but nervous about installing the stripes after investing so much in body and paint...

PettyBlue, ill tell you what i did and hope it might be of a help. First thing is don't get nervous, but find a picture of a side view of one that you would like and print it out and hang it up so you can look and compare, You need to make every effort to make sure its clean, something the size of a pin dot under them will show up.
I started at the drivers door using my mirror brackets and door handle first figuring it should be correct.. Bruzilla starts on the roof so you may want to talk with him because mine i only did once, hes done it before it sounds like.
keep a straight pin around and just in case you get a small air pocket you could poke it on and make it disappear, i cant see where i did it a couple times anyway..
A real good squeegee i used to go over and over mine after they were in place pulling the backing off slowly as i went and checking everything 3 times lol.. Use plenty of soap and warm water to put the stripes in and its better to have someone helping you keeping the area clean and wet and you can move the stripes around with ease making sure there right.
Then start with the squeegee working your way to the end, keep looking at the picture for placement and measurements..
I kind of debated telling you this, This is the way i did mine, talk to some others, this was a one time deal for me and i think they turned out great but that doesn't mean i did it correctly, so talk to a few, info on this stuff from others who have done it is great assurance and help.. Just my 2 cents, relax.. First thing! Id also wait at least a week until paint cured well.. Good luck. all mine was done with Year One stripes, i don't know if others are the same, mine was water soaked with soap so to get backing off..

I've done mine pretty much the same way. As Ron wrote, I start with the center stripe. I can see the logic in doing the door first, but if you're a little off, the sail stripe on the other side might be thrown off. If you get the center stripe positioned correctly, both sail stripes will be right, and the rest will be right also.

What I do is position the stripes and tape them down with small pieces of tape. Then lift one end, spray the car with soap/water, and peel back about half the cover paper. I seat one side of the decal and smooth it out, then I can take off the tape, peel off the rest of the paper, and apply the other half and it should all be good.
