I just decoded my fender tag to see what my 73 Charger was originally built as. Color code was JA5: Dark Silver Poly Exterior Color V5X: Body Side Stripes, Black

I searched for the color combination on Google and found this picture

Is this a good representation of the Body side stripes? I never seen them on a 3rd Gen Charger

Yep.

Yes, rallye stripes on 73 & 74 Chargers.
Is your car supposed to be a rallye?

The car was metallic brown when I bought it as a HS junior in 85'. I ended up painting it dark grey metallic a couple years after buying it. I could tell it was originally silver, but I had no idea it had factory stripes. I don't think it was a rallye, here is the decoded info from the tag.

Ah, my misunderstanding. You posted a halo roof car so I assumed you did not have an SE.
Yes, 74 is the same and SE's did not come with the wide Rallye stripe all though many folks have put them on since. I considered it myself but decided to go with the factory pin stripe.
In any case, that is what it is supposed to look like.

I believe that car photo posted with the white top is a member on the DC.com site. He has recently changed the top to black.

I own the Rallye Charger yall were asking about. I'm in the middle of a complete restore of it. Found it here in Kansas of all places.

Just made a post about it
