I installed a alternator on my dodge charger and it is now over charging, it's putting out 16 volts. I took one back because it was doing the same thing, I was told by the rebuilder that the alternator had to be shorting out inside, this was after he ran me though a number of test to perform.now this one is doing the same thing.I have changed voltage regulators, I have cleaned the body mounting spots.checked for naked wiring and I have had no luck. have anyone had to deal with this problem before. I had a 73 Road runner to catch fire because it was doing the same thing.I need help.I have tested the voltage with three gauges,so I feel sure that it is putting out 16 volts to the battery but I am getting about 15 on the inside to the fuses and the volt gauge.
