While helping my friend work on his 73 Satellite, he mentioned he could not get brakes. He could not even get fluid to come out of the bleeder. I started from step one. Check the brake fluid in the master cylinder. I pulled off the master brake cyl cap. Something looked wrong but i did not see it at first. There was fluid to the top of cylinder. Then it hit me. The black rubber that normally is attached to the lid was not there. I then saw the rubber. It was still on the master cyl and the fluid was in the rubber. I picked up the rubber off the cyl and the master was actually empty. We had a good laugh on that one. Was it dumb, yes, have i done things like that, YES i have. We fixed the brakes. Some times with a problem, start simple.
