Is there anyway to bend or straightin a trunklid.

The lid seams to have a warp up about 1/4" in the middle across the lid from left to right about 1/2 down no damage - like heat warped.

The lid is in excellant shape and has been repainted by previous owner - probably could not find one in this condition.

No bondo in it at all- its solid.

Thanks for your help

Do you mean it's warped around the framework(as such) Ralph?
Maybe post a clear pic of the problem area.

New photos trunk lid 73RR

]I have some photos but this is hard to see. The trunk lid bulges up about 1/4 " across the entire lid. When I was at Carlisle car show I looked a show car 73RR and the trunk lid was pretty flat across this area - figured mine to be about 1/4" off.

See photos thanks for your advice.

I know on my car the trunk lid will bulge up if the latch striker is not lined up right. If it is too close to the passenger compartment, it will cause the trunk lid to compress against the hinges causing the bulge. If you move the striker back towards the bumper it will ‘stretch’ the lid when it closes causing it to flatten out.

The trunk lid on my Polara sits like that, although in my case I know why.
I fitted a new trunk rubber (aftermarket not repop) it's a little too bulky and it causes the trunk lid to sit proud all the way around.
Purely as an exercise Ralph, you could try removing the trunk rubber to see if the alignment improves.

thanks for the information - two very good scenarios - I will check it out this weekend.

Try removing the striker altogether if the trunk still doesn't align once the weatherstrip is removed and see how the lid fits. Could be a slightly sprung hinge, the weatherstrip mounting flange could be curled up etc. Aftermarket or NOS weatherstrips can be tough to fit, just did my buddy's Camaro and he had NOS weatherstrips, had to slam the doors and let them settle in for a couple weeks before the relaxed!
