My 74 charger tail light housings are broken. the red tail light lenses themselves are fine, but the housings that bolt the tail lights to the body are broken at all the mounting points.

im having a really hard time finding housings. will any other style tail lights interchange with my car?

Gage, mine were as well. Unless they are trash, here is an easy fix for them.
Refer to the pics. Get some fairly stiff straps. You'll also need fairly flat headed screws and nuts as to not conflict with the space constriction.

BTW, if you right click and "view image" they should come up full size.

thanks for the info and great pics!! i think my housings are too far gone to repair unfortunately...

i guess im on the hunt for some 3rd gen tail lights

so tail lights from a 1971 Dodge Charger SE Superbee would fit right? i found some on ebay

Not to get off subject here but there are 2 items (3 if you count both of them) that just about every 3rd gen owner needs.
Not wants, but needs ... grilles and tail lamp housings. No one will repop them because they will be expensive. But if ya gotta have them!! You think they would, seeing as it was the 2 years with the most production.

I talked to a guy who was repopping the bumper strips about doing the headlamp surrounds. He said that as soon as you pull them off the grille shell they shrink so it was near impossible to get a good casting from them without major money into engineering them. It would be nice to at least get them in fiberglass or ABS.

well luckily my grill inserts are in really good shape. just my tail light housings are bad. i am going to paint my grills. i'd really love to get some superbee style tail lights...

I thank you for the pix too as I have the same problem but will use your pics to do the same with mine!

I believe there is a fellow over at the third gen forum selling a set.

I just bought a bunch of Charger parts. I got an NOS headlight bezel with the stuff that he could use to make new ones. How do I get ahold of him?

Like I said, it doesn't matter. You can't reverse-mold them, NOS or otherwise.
