Hello. I just picked up this ride, and have some things that need to take care of, as mentioned to me by a mechanic friend: I need to replace the fuel and brake lines, will probably need to replace the brakes, the "FUEL" and "TEMP" gauges aren't working, the "cool/warm" temp dial won't slide to the left, and the heater blower isn't working. Please bear with me on the correct "terminology," and I am looking for help in how to diagnose what's wrong, buy the correct parts (please share ideas where I can get parts at a decent price), and possibly install some of them myself. Thanks in advance, and I am looking forward to getting info from this site!

How long since it was last used regularly?

Temp gauge is pobably the first priority, followed by brakes.

Id check all your connections and grounds if its set for very long, be a good starting point, fuel and brake lines are a must if there bad before you start driving it as said a first priority..

Thanks for your reply and help. I got it on eBay (early July of this year), and the seller said that he didn't have it out that much himself. I've been driving it on Sundays for little trips.

Thank you. I replaced the fuses, but that didn't work. I am thinking about getting the fuel and brake lines from Summit, as they have decent prices. Can you recommend any other parts supply places with decent prices?

Hope this isn't a double post...I asked the seller (got it off of eBay), and he said that he only took it out on weekends himself, like I've done recently. As for the brakes, my mechanic friends said that it has disc brakes, but when I look for parts, such as brake pads, they all refer to "front." I thought this one would have "rear" brakes?

Front brakes are disc
Rear Brakes are drum

has both

Check the FineLines website for fuel and brake lines.

After checking grounds on both sensors, ou can check the fuel level wiring it is a single sire in the middle of the trunk floor that is routed to your rear wiring harness. Inspect for damage. Last resort is bad gauge or sending unit in tank.

Temp sending unit is under hood. Probably is the gauge cluster though.

You could try Rock auto.. link below and ive found a lot of things on Amazon.com for these cars cheaper, any parts store should be able to help you with parts for your car.. With your brakes, yes it has rear brakes, chances are you may have disk brakes in the front and drum brakes on the back.. And thats the reason it refers to front..

Hi Ron and thanks for the reply. I am slow as well, because I never got a notification that you replied. I've purchased some thing from RockAuto, and love their prices. Unfortunately, they don't have brake lines, so I am looking at Summit and Jegs. Based on your reply, here are a few questions:

1. When I get brake parts/lines, I need to focus on only the front disks, such as rotors and pads, right?

2. I went to Summit Racing, and know that I want stainless steel, but am unsure as whether or not to get the "sold as a pair," or "set of 4."

3. Is there anything that I'd need to repair or replace as far as the rear "drum brakes?"

Thanks again!!!!!

Thanks! For the fuel lines, I'd need (Summit) "Front to rear/tank to pump," right?

I hope you have good luck with summit getting correct fuel lines. I got a set from Inline tube, stainless, they did not fit properly at all, and they never responded to my request about what to do, and unfortunately they got tweaked trying to get them to sit right under the car, so I was SOL with sending them back. Ended up having a local guy to make a set of stainless from originals, and his were spot on fit!!!!

If it were myself, and you don't know how long its set and a couple lines are bad i would order all the lines for front and rear brakes, If its just the front lines that are bad tell them you want to replace your front lines only and if the pads are bad, wore down, I would get new ones.. as far as the rotor's go's a local garage around you could turn them down unless they have been turned down a few times to many and need replaced.
If your back brakes are worn down, shoes arent that expensive to replace, check the brake cylinders and make sure the rubber cups on the ends arent dry rotted to, if the rubber brake lines going to the wheels are getting all dry rotted they would need replaced, its hard to say what you need not seeing it, you don't want the brake's to fail, replacing everything is good insurance! And i just happened on hear as im not subscribed to the thread.. This probably isint what you wanted to hear but brakes are important to have working right, all the time...

Thanks for your advice, and I think I'm going to go with "Jegs." Sorry to hear about your ordeal.

My heater blower wasnt working ended up being the fuse, it looked good tho till I tested it. Right side of the fuse block, 2nd one up from the bottom. Good luck on the gauges. My temp gauge always sits on the left and moves to the right as it gets hot. Sounds like yours is stuck.

Thanks for your advice, and it's what I needed to hear...always good to get a second (or more) opinion on things! I'm probably going to go with Jegs. So to be sure, get the "front to rear" brake lines, right? I see that the 4 piece kit of front brake lines are more than the front to rears. Should I also get the clips, too?

Thanks for your help. Yes...I believe that it is stuck, so I may have to dig deeper!

As far as buying brake lines I personaly would not buy them from jegs or summit I would ether find someone to bend them for you local or some place like Jims Auto parts
the mail order discount guys seem to have a hard time getting mopar stuff right
