when I was pulling the springs last night and goin through the manual. I thought; hey I don't have one of those!!!

Was a sway bar a standard fitment? There is no signs of any components for it or mounting points on the axle.

I don't know if it was part of a package or not, but rear sway bars were not standard, even on Road Runners. I had a 74 big block and a 73 small block Road Runner, neither came with a rear sway bar. My understanding was, the front sway bar was different if you had a rear bar (I think it was smaller - but I am not certain).

Thanks for the reply, the 74 chassis manual I have doesn't say if it was optional on any lines. Just shows it in with the rear suspension.

I was wondering if a previous owner removed it altogether.

My 74 Charger never had one with the 8.25 but they were available perhaps with the tow package.

I have a nice one now all ready to go with an 8.75 once I get the 8.75 cleaned up and new bearings and seals. I welded in washers and modified the ubolt mounting holes on a set of mounting plates to get rid of the rubber ISO mounting contraption.

The bars themselves are more common than the 73-74 mounting plates as the same bar was used 73-79 on BBodys and to 81 on Rbodys but the spring/shock mounts changed in 75 iirc.

*Oh, I know the bars and plates can also be found in early to mid 70's Cbodys too but don't know the years the frame width was the same as the BBodys

If your looking for them (and I do have a spare set see add link) the plate numbers for the spring mounts are
p/n 3643818
p/n 3643819

The other parts to find not broken are the links from the bar to the plates but they can be fabricated... I may have a spare set too

Thanks, I don't know whether to go ahead and try get one at a later date.

I'd saying shipping those to ireland could be expensive.

Lots of folks don't go to the trouble to take the U bots off when pulling sway bars.

It's 20 times more effort.

I have 72 B body, 73 E body and 79 B body rear bars and mounts in my collection, and they all appear to be interchangeable despite slight differences.

The general rule is that a front bar should be larger than a rear bar.

IIRC the "small block" front bar is not very much bigger (if at all) than a rear bar, so a larger front bar may have been included if a rear bar was ordered.

My latest 74 Roadrunner has the rear sway bar, and it was a 318 car with a 8.25 rear and 14" Rallye wheels.

I actually just got a parts car in and surprised the hell out of me it had a front sway bar witch means a rear should be there even though it has an 8 1/4 very strange car big block big trans little rear
It's a 73 s.e. charger if anyone needs these parts msg me I'll get under it to double check

Front and rear don't go hand by hand on every car. Since 73 the front bars was more standard on every car than before, and rear was just standard on Rallyes ( Charger ) and what is stated on the attachmemt I posted from the dealer databook catalog to Plymouth.

I think just on /6 cars the front sway bar wasn't standard

My 73 RL21 had no factory front bar.

May be the same on WL base Charger.

Previous owner put on a thick aftermarket bar. Surprised me- no factory mounts.

Yes definitelly Low priced cars ( L ) and even more coupes ( 21 ) were the ones who could or not get front sway bars. Maybe Plymouths being the low class brand from Chrysler were toward to not get them standard on L cars even being V8s

Note, I'm not in the States or a, an expert on this, is just what I have seen average from the distance after all these years
