I have a 73RR with a 522 stroker and 5 spd - 3" exhaust. Makes atlot of torque around 640 and about 500 to 550 horespower. Do not run it on the track more of a classic touring car.

I am planning to put in a new rear from Moser (with eaton true trac) with 3.54 gears with rear wilwood rear brakes and thought about going to a dana versus a new 8 3/4".

The dana looks pretty large and wondering if the larger housing will interfere with my 3" exhaust

Any comments on fittment and any pros and cons will be appreciated. I know only of the driveshaft issue length issue.

Thanks Ralph

Tube size is the same on both but the center section is bigger. Just depends on how your exhaust is run over your present rear. Pics would help....

I don't think you will have a problem with clearances with the Dana 60. Mopar installed 9.25" rears in 73-74 B-Bodies which are about the same size as the Dana. Just watch how you make the bends in the exhaust tubing over the axle to avoid hitting the body.

I did a swap years ago and the only thing I had to do is get a shorter drive shaft. It was a B body Dana and otherwise bolted right into a 68 RR.

Cranky, thanks for the comments. See the attached photos looks like amble room.

If i stayed with the 8 3/4 and rebuilt it correctly would it hold the torgue & HP of my motor.

Thanks Ralph
