8 3/4 strength before breaking ?

Which center section do you have? Aluminum or stock? Great looking car my man!

Stock 742 case with stock caps.

Seriously, there is no way to accurately answer this question as there are too many variables, but an 8 3/4 will withstand a tremendous amount of abuse. I would run the 8 3/4 and start a Dana fund if you're afraid of it, then if she ever breaks then you've got it covered, if she doesn't, then you've got mad money for something else.

And there will be something else ... ;)

Running 10.55 at 129mph in a 3,650 lb Dodge, 3.73 gears, 4000 stall convertor, foot brake, 1350 joints in a Strange driveshaft with Strange axles, green bearings, and a Detroit Locker.

Aluminum case 742 8 3/4 diff..........190 runs to date, no issues..

When we started running low 11's with a 4 speed car that weighed 3200, we started shaving ring gear teeth at the launch but we were launching at 5000+ rpm.
