I wouldn't hesitate to jump on even with today's prices!!! Yet I sadly will have to pass as I have no space or place for it. But someone will get a really fun and very nice GTO...cr8crshr/Bill :thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

It's OK, for a 64, my stepfathers 1st S/S car too, ran 12.54 in 1967-68
I was raised around Pontiacs "tin Indians'' & especially GTOs or Firebirds

I like/prefer the 65 great looking cars, for the 1st gen
or 67 with the 1st year 400, both especially in a HT, much better lines a bit more refined style
than the 64's
which is kind of strange for me, I usually like the 1st year of a model, most anything
& the 70 Judge Ram Air III or IV way better

& it will be way over priced, you can count on that fact
now I'd take a (63-72) MoPar of equal value 1st

not a fan of the (or any car with) painted steelies & dork dish caps either

I recently saw a nice 68 GTO 4 speed project on craigslist..... I like em, but partial to the 68s

Gimme a 69 or 70 Judge and you all will never see me again...

4 cars really shaped my youth in the late 70's. A 67 SS 396 Chevelle convert white with a blue interior. A 70 Orange Judge, a 71 Orange Road Runner, and a 70 Super Bee 4-speed a friend had in High school in 1980ish.. All local cars beating around in a small town in Maine.

It's not like he wants a Chevy or Ford.
 Awww, come on here!!! All the muscle car marques hold a very sacred and special place in all of us, including those that had the privilege to be living during the great automotive period, and drive just about everything that was being offered back then. I was, and drove everything I could get my mits on!!! cr8crshr/Bill :usflag::usflag::usflag:

I like Pontiacs. They don't have the suspension, brakes and drivetrain quality of a Mopar but they're decent other than that.

Take the tiger by the tail in a new Wide Track by Pontiac...

wasn't that the line, in the mid-late 60s

I had an incredibly hot teacher who drove a '62 Bonneville sport coupe back in the day. Motivated me to squeeze a new 1989 Bonneville SSE in between my seven GTXs.

Pontiac cars in my family's past...
'56 Chieftain (parents) 2-tone green of course.
'63 Bonneville convertible (brother) red
'64 Catalina (parents) gold
'67 Tempest (grandparents) off white
'68 Firebird 400, 4 speed (cousin) green
'69 GTO 400, 4 speed (brother) green
'69 Grand Prix J Model (different brother) green
'77 Catalina (parents) 2-tone green
'78 Grand Am (different brother) off white

None of them were bad cars. The '68 and '69 cars above had their timing gear/chain sets changed before failure...like around 50k miles.

I swore I would never take on a car as bad as my Satellite ever again. So what did I do? Take one twice as bad. I pick this one up the end of July. 400 auto ac close up headlight car.

1969 Pontiac GTO Project For Sale $16,500/Offer - $16,500 (Kearneysville)

**If you are seeing this post, the vehicle is still available. Once the vehicle is sold, I will delete the post.**

Here is a 1969 Pontiac GTO project for sale. This real 242 GTO has a clear title in my name, is running and driving, and has it’s original numbers matching engine and 4spd transmission.

I have rebuilt the original engine and 4spd. It has a new exhaust system, new gas tank, new gas tank sender/pickup, new windshield, new rubber brake hoses, new brake wheel cylinders, some new steel brake lines, new rear shocks, new core support, new front valance, new hood, new tires, new lug nuts, and new hub caps.

This car needs a fair amount of body work. The rear quarters need to be replaced. The drivers floor has been patched a long time ago. There were some small holes in various places in the front and rear floors, that I patched using POR-15 Patch. The floor under the back seat is solid. The trunk floor is very good...........

The 1964 model never did much for me, but I liked the later versions.

I never figured out why it was called 'the original muscle car' all the time, when a 1962 413 Fury would run rings around it.

It got that name because the 64 GTO was pitted against a 64 Ferrari GTO in Car & Driver magazine...& the Pontiac won!

The 64 GTOs came with a 389 engine. It was discovered in the early 2000s that the race GTO had a 421 engine. Pontiac cheated.
