Weare planning on using an A100 front straight axle in the 65 Coronet AWB project. I bought an axle set up for what I thought was a good price of $200.
It turns out there's alot of work ahead needed on the set up.

First suprise: Its a 5000 lb GVW A100, so the axle has 6 leaf springs and 11" drums! Next, the bushings were shot and the beam was bent. ~$250 top straighten the beam and install new bushings. Done.

The spindles are OK, but a little worn. The bearings are a tad loose on the spindle shaft, but acceptable. However it turns out 1 hub spun the inner bearing race inside the hub. The inner bearing race now spins freely in the hub!!! crap. Fix: I'm thinking about just Loc-tite GREENing in the race. It will be the last race that hub gets...but it should lock it in place.

I want to put on some disks. Scarebird makes A100 disk conversion brackets. Cool...I says. I ask for a picture, and it turns out the reg. duty A100 spindles are different than the A100 HD!!! I thought they were all the same. What the hell do I know......

I guess the quesitons are:
1) Did anyone else know that the A100 had a different HD axle???? 1st pict is my stuff. pict 2 and 3 is the scarebird A100 stuff....
2) Does anyone have a spare front A100 hub they would sell?????
3) What the hell was I thinking when I agreed to an AWB car?????

Follow on:

I MAY be needing 2 A100 spindles and 2 A100 front hubs. At the bare minimum, I'll be needing 1 front hub. (if its the same as the HD hub that I have with the spun brg.)
I know the spindles are diff. But I dont' know about the hubs.

And this is why I don't like the whole A100 mess.Thats why Mine is getting a straight tube axle WAY less of a pain!
