Couple weeks ago I got my factory AC charged up and it works great. The only issue is that when the AC is on, there is some slapping going on with the belts or in other words there appears to be some slack in them. This ONLY happens with the AC on. I've looked into this a little and it seems that it's fairly common in other makes due to the older twin piston compressors and no idler pulley closer to it. Has anyone dealt with a similar issue and is there a fix for it? Thanks!

Havea you tightened the belt(s)? New belts will stretch and will wear donw into the grooves a bit and often need a follow-up tightening.

The belts seem tight except when the AC is running. There's very little give in them.

That's fairly normal, since there is a big load on the belts trying to spin that monster vtwin. Possible the system is a little overcharged, making it work harder. If it's really slapping either tighten them some more or replace the belts. One belt might be a little longer or just tired. Worse case is the belts beating up the pulley bearings from the slapping.

agreed.

93, if the belts are new make sure they are a matched set. simply 2 belts that are the same part number is not good enough. If they don't come off the same "core" they will be slightly different and will stretch at different rates. For a matched set simply make sure that ALL the numbers match. part number (no mater the supplier) and LOT number (usually 4 digits after the part number).. And tighten them, don't go crazy with a 4' pry bar but get them fairly tight using a large screw driver or a breaker bar.
