On a 71 B how does it come out of the firewall? Inside the car is square and on the engine side is rounded. I didn't want to break it and if I do, are they repopped?

Thanks

on the inside or square end there
is a small thin type clip you need to remove
usually the clip will deteriorate to the
point it is just a small thin strip of metal.
it is small enough that you will need a good light on it
to be able to see it

There was a piece of metal on the top side of the sqaure. It looked almost likea broken cotter pin. Anyway, I removed it and it looks like theres two tabs on the left and right of the block. Are you suppose to squeeze the tabs? Is this cable repopped in case if I break it?

thanks Flyaper

yes
that little piece of metal is whats holding those tabs from
being able to be squeezed together so it will slide thru
the firewall.
it should go thru now with it removed.

i have gone thru this too many times myself.
it is not easy.
i still have one car i haven't gotten out yet.

they repop some cables
but
i don't think a 71 b i haven't seen one.
fyi
bb and sb cables are different lengths
