Hi all! Hey...putting a new rug into my beeper and was wondering about the accel pedal gasket. Mine wasn't done right to begin with so I've nothing to go on.

I understand that I have to cut a square into the rug and the jute that is about the size of the hump at the bottom of the pedal. If correct, this is done so that it sits flush against the floor board, right? But what about this gasket? Does it go between the pedal and the rug or under the rug? And if under the rug wouldn't it make a bit of a hump when it contacts the jute backing? Any help would be appreciated.

Are you buying an OEM correct rug or are you going to make one yourself if you go OEM the rug will dictate the how the gasket goes I don't remember I Done mine a while ago

the gasket goes under the rug and is actually glued to the floorboard. You'll notice the bottom of your accelerator pedel isn't flat is has a protruding square shape (that was probably a horrible explanation). Anyway the carpet will get cut just enough for the square but you'll want the accelerator pedal to overlap the carpet all the way around.

Hey John, I'm trying to remember here....are you talking about the white foam one that would seat under the the rubber that lips out and sits on top of the molded rubber foot pad in the carpeting? Or is it a gasket that would seat under the smaller rectangular mount base area, where the two studs are?

Will, talking about the gasket that would seat under the smaller rectangular mount base where the studs are.

@ Eagleone: Good explaination to me 'cause I know exactly what you are talking about!!

Wish I could remember a bit better, just did it last spring.........but I'm remembering like eagle mentioned, pinched between the floorboard and bottom of the accelerator. Probably to keep moisture from wicking up into the car.
