Hi everyone, I haven't been on for awhile. Been really busy but the fact that I'm getting older and slower might have something to do with that. Anyway, we are trying to adapt a la 360 small block to a 1963 727 pushbutton 727 trans. There is a problem with starter engaging in the starter ring on the converter. I think I saw an adapter kit to make this work, maybe on this site? Can someone point me in the right direction to find more info on this? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Bill

for one thing, the TC hub is smaller one early convertors. is that what you have?? ebay has guy that sells a machined bushing for your 360 so the convertor will fit.

Thanks barbee6043. Yes we are using the 63 727 trans, converter and flex plate on the la 360. my son measured the hub on the 63 converter and said it was same measurement as the hole in the crank flange on the 360. you think we should double check that? thanks, bill

this is what I thought. the 63-5 273 hooked to t he PB or cable shift trans. the hub on that convertor is smaller than the later hub on convertors that went to the rod actuated trans. like 66 up. also realize THIS, your 360 is STOCK externally balanced which means it takes a weighted convertor or aftermarket weighted flexplate.
YES measure hub AND determine what you are using for a convertor!!
YES I have a 72 318, and a 64 PB cable trans, I will need to r educe the end of the crank to accept the smaller hub ob the 64 convertor I plan to use. the 318 is stock internally balanced where your 360 is EXTERNALLY balanced!!!! I hope I explained this OK.

The weight , ie balance issue is corrected by welding on the weight tab on the early converter. Grind one off an old 360 converter, or you can buy a kit Mopar has or does sell. 727 and 904 use different weights.

Thanks very much barbee6043 you explained it very well. That's a good idea chignikred I may do that. thanks. You guys have been a great help. I appreciate that.

I would install a late (67 & up) input shaft and pump. Then you can use the standard 360 converter. 30 minute swap. Parts are availible at trans wholesale houses for less than $100. I race with push button transmisions. All mine have been converted.
